For patients
Wearing Nevident aligners.
If your dentist is treating you with Nevident aligners, here is how to get the best from them. Your dentist's instructions always come first — this is general guidance, not a substitute for them.
Your dentist examines you, decides whether aligner treatment suits your case, and sends us a scan of your teeth with their instructions. We prepare a treatment plan; your dentist reviews it with you in 3D, including how long it will take and how many aligners it needs. Once you both agree, manufacturing begins — usually a matter of days. Aligners are worn in sequence, each moving the teeth a little, and are typically changed every one to two weeks as your dentist directs.
- Wear them as your dentist instructs — usually 22 to 23 hours a day.
- Wash your hands before handling them, and rinse the aligner after taking it out of its packet.
- Use one aligner per arch: the upper for upper teeth, the lower for lower.
- Seat it by pressing gently on the front teeth, then with your fingertips on the back teeth, evenly left and right, until it clicks into place.
- Never bite an aligner into place — it can damage it. If you feel sharp pain or real discomfort, stop wearing it and contact your dentist.
- Ease the aligner off the inside of the back teeth on one side with a fingertip, then repeat on the other side before removing it fully.
- Take extra care if you have several attachments bonded to your teeth.
- Do not bend or twist the aligner, and never use a sharp object to lever it out.
- Take them out only when you need to — every removal is wear.
- If an aligner is very hard to remove, ask your dentist rather than forcing it.
- Clean both aligners before every insertion with a soft toothbrush and water.
- Do not use denture cleaner or soak them in mouthwash. Those damage the surface and leave it cloudy and more visible.
- Take them out to eat and drink — cold water is the exception.
- Brush and floss after meals before putting them back. If you cannot, rinse your mouth and the aligner under running water, and clean both properly at the next opportunity.
- Keep up your regular check-ups and hygiene appointments throughout treatment.
Your starter pack includes a case. Keep the pair you are currently wearing in it whenever they are out of your mouth — it protects them from damage and is the simplest way not to lose them. Rinse them, shake the water off and put them away rather than leaving them loose.
Questions about your own treatment belong with the dentist treating you — they know your case. If you have experienced a problem you believe is caused by the appliance itself, ask your dentist to report it to us.
